Hello I’m Mrs Dunning and I have loved being a teacher at Minterne for many years. I am happy when I’m learning new things with the children. Now I am the school’s SENCo and I enjoy helping children who are finding school life challenging, either with their learning or their general wellbeing. I like caring for people and trying to help them with their worries or their difficulties. As I listen and talk to many parents, I try to show empathy and understanding for how their child might be feeling or behaving, both at home and at school.
As a parent of a child with Special Needs, I respect how difficult it can be if your child is struggling. To help the children, I often work with other professionals, like Speech and Language Therapists or trained counsellors.
When I’m not at school, my favourite thing is taking my young dog for a walk along the beach with my family, although he always seems to shake the sea water all over me and not over everyone else! To relax, I enjoy gardening, baking and reading a good book. My secret dream is to be an explorer and discover for myself all the places and things that I have taught about but not yet experienced first hand!
