Welcome to term 2
Our Topic and English curriculum are closely tied this term, which allows the pupils to immerse themselves in their learning. First of all we link Science and English through the use of Electricity. Pupils discover hands on how to make a complete circuit using a variety of components, concluding in pupils creating their own torch and circuit. In English, we will produce Information and Explanation Texts about Electricity.
The non fiction genre is continued into the second half of the term where we study the Romans. Within this broad subject we study the day in the life of a Roman, search where the Romans conquered on a map and learn about the strength of the Roman Army. Towards the end of the term we will be visited by the Rainbow Theatre as part of our exciting Roman Day. Knowledge is further deepened and extended through our writing about the Romans within English as we explore the Roman Army and re write Boudicca's rallying cry! Our Guided Reading book, Romans on the Rampage by Jeremy Strong, looks to offer new interesting vocabulary and lots of laughs!
We have been encouraged by the recent changes in how we are learning our times tables in Year Four which seems to be very positive. This term we will be learning the 6 and 7 times tables. 4O flew to victory last term, but the other classes are hot on their heels. Keep up the good work!
