Welcome to Term 5
Our topic this term is Living Things. The children will be learning about the life cycles of various animals and will consider how living things are adapted to suit their environments. In week 2, we will bring fertilised eggs into school to incubate, so that the children can see how birds develop and what conditions (MRSGREN) are required to enable this.
We have a school trip to Wildwood lined up, and a visitor coming in to show the children a collection of mammals. He will share his expert knowledge of mammals, and the children will use their note taking and questioning skills to get as much as possible from this experience.
We will also cover:
-How humans reproduce
-How babies develop in the womb
-Evolution and adaptation
Our Literacy will be based around our science topic. The children will create an explanation text about a mammal and its life cycle.
The children will also create a David Attenborough style documentary, to explain how different animals and plants have adapted to suit their different environments.
An exciting term ahead!
