On Wednesday 21 January, fourteen teams from Mid Kent, Ashford and Swale took part in the area Indoor Athletics finals held at Mote Park Sports Hall in Maidstone. The teams competed in three heats, according to their school size.
The 27 athletes from Minterne enjoyed a very successful afternoon, achieving first place in all the races, ranging from short relay sprints to longer races which tested their stamina and skills in hurdling.
The field events, involving jumping and throwing, were taking place alongside the track races. Our athletes achieved some amazing performances with a number of personal bests. These included Aimee Minett in the Ball Push and Katie Bigland and Luke Poulteney in the Triple Jump.
When the final scores were announced, Minterne had achieved the superb total of 710 points with Roseacre in second place with 548 points and Madginford in third place with 520 points.
Well done to Mrs Mitchell and her impressive team. Minterne and Roseacre now go forwards to the County Finals.
What a talented group of children we have. Our finalists richly entertained the children and staff on the final day of 2010. Our thanks to Cheryl Cole, Amanda Holden, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell for agreeing to judge the contest and to our comperes, Ant and Dec.
