In an amazing three hours at the Ashford Stour Centre Sports Hall, the Minterne athletics team was crowned Champions yet again. It was especially pleasing to win the Kent Finals in Olympics Year. The competition was fierce with 15 well drilled teams pressing for points. The team was thrilled to have their medals presented by Olympic Gold Medallist, Dame Kelly Holmes. Congratulations to super coach Mrs Mitchell and her team on their phenomenal and continued success.
Minterne, Swale winners,  scored a superb 598 points. Upton (Thanet) came second with 548 points and Claremont Primary came third with 500 points.
Congratulations to Y4 children and staff for the delightful Olympic Opera 'The Lost Values'. The show highlighted the shallowness of the glitz and glamour of pampered sports stars and returned them to the true Olympic values of PRIDE (Personal Excellence, Respect and Friendship, Inspiration, Determination and Equality). The opera was brilliantly conceived, designed, written and performed by our talented pupils and was a real credit to the whole team. The Olympic flame burns brightly at Minterne!
