Mrs. Atkinson, Holmes (Lead TA)
Hello, I'm Mrs. Atkinson and I have worked at Minterne now for about 5 years. Apart from one year in year 5, I have always been in year 6 and I love it. I was a TA at The Oaks for 11 years before I had my daughter Evie who is in year 5 now at Minterne. I love helping children learn and especially like helping children with their reading and to try and get their target. Year 6 is such a great year especially our London and World War 2 topics. We also have our PGL trip to look forward to and our end of year play. I enjoy helping to run the school council.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going on walks with my dog called Cooper, visiting the theatre and watching football! I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to year 6.
Mr Phillips, McKellen Teacher
"Hello to you all. My name is Mr Phillips and I am teaching in Year 6. A little bit about me – I have 2 small children,
who are lively and awesome, I love sports, art and generally being creative. I am very much looking forward to teaching McKellen class and I know that we will have a lot of fun and great learning together. I also run the forest school
and will therefore be looking for any excuse to get into the great outdoors!"
Mrs Diddams, McKellen TA
Mrs Duchesne, McKellen TA
"I am Mrs Duchesne and am one of the TAs in McKellen class. I have worked at Minterne for more than 10 years now - most of those in Year 6! Year 6 is hard work but in between we get to do some exciting things and, throughout the year, our topics and class books are really interesting. Out of school, I love reading, cooking and taking my very naughty Spaniel, who is called Dolly, out for long walks in the countryside."
Mrs Skillen, McKellen TA
"Hello, my name is Mrs Skillen. This is my first year at Minterne and very much looking forward to helping all the children I'm lucky enough to work with. I love all things historical, especially reading family trees and trying to piece together one myself. I also enjoy being outside in the country and spending time with my three daughters, which often ends up with a movie and popcorn."
Mrs Sugden, Lennon Teacher (Mon, Tues, Wed)
"I have been part of the wonderful Minterne family for many years now - far too many to mention! I’ve taught in all year groups (even Years 1 and 2 in a previous school) and am really enjoying my time teaching in Year 6. I love the interesting topics we study, such as World War II and Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure. The children in the school know me as the lady who plays piano in singing assemblies and music, especially singing, is a big part of my life both inside and outside of school. I’m also a bit of a book worm and always have a book on my bedside table to read before I go to sleep. My crazy cocker spaniel called Charlie helps keeps me fit and I enjoy long dog walks at the weekends."
Mrs Gray, Lennon Teacher (Thurs, Fri)
"Unbelievably, I have been a teacher at Minterne for 30 years, so the school feels like my second home! I always love the end of each week as I only teach on Thursdays and Fridays; these are my happy days because I get to work with the wonderful children at Minterne and I especially love Fridays because we have biscuits in the staffroom! I love teaching everything in our rich curriculum, but I particularly love the creative lessons such as art and design technology. When I’m not in school, I spend my time renovating and decorating my medieval house, gardening and taking my goldendoodle Rufus for long walks in the countryside."
Mrs Kemp, Lennon TA
"Hello, I’m Mrs Kemp the TA in year 6 Lennon Class which is found in the music corridor. I have been a TA for 7 years now and I have loved every minute of it. Being with our Year 6s is such a rewarding year for me as we see our pupils get reading for the next chapter in their school life. One part of Year 6, amongst many others, that I particularly look forward to, is our PGL Trip. I hope a lot of the children will be able to join us as it’s so much fun. You can find me in Lennon Class on Monday lunchtimes running my puzzles and games club."
